Volunteering in school
We have many volunteers at John Clifford School. All volunteers are supported within school through our volunteering policy which is read, understood and signed by all volunteers working in school.
These are the ways in which you can volunteer in school.
Reading Volunteers
At John Clifford we always welcome volunteers to come into school who love reading and would enjoy sharing their interest with our children by becoming a reading volunteer. At present we have 15 volunteers ranging from parents (past and present), grandparents and governors; anyone is welcome once you have had a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) which the school will organise. Our reading volunteers work across the whole school from Foundation stage to Year 6 hearing individual children or small groups of children read. You will receive an induction and ongoing support from myself.
If you, or anyone in your family, may be interested in becoming a reading volunteer I would love to hear from you.

Parent Helpers
We have lots of adults in school who help us. Parents and carers come in to listen to readers, bake with children and generally support teaching and learning. Some people are able to come regularly whilst others come when they are able. If you are interested in helping out in school then please do let us know and we will see what can be arranged.
Trips/In School Activities
Through our curriculum, we like to enhance the opportunities of our children through visits and visitors. We often ask for the support of our parents and carers so that we have as much help for the children. If you are free and would ever like to accompany trips and events then please do ask your class teacher who will keep you in mind for whatever event is coming up.
Friends of John Clifford
Volunteering with Friends of John Clifford is a really fun way to get more involved in your child's school life and meet other parents and carers. There are many ways to help, from holding a stall at the Spring fair to designing posters and flyers; from sorting out disco tickets to coming along to a disco to sell sweets (and have a dance!)
To find out more, please come along to one of our meetings or pop into one of our coffee and cake mornings.
Meetings are held once a month on a Monday at 6:30 pm. Coffee mornings are usually once every half term on a Friday. All welcome! Please see the Friends part of the website for dates:
