This week in maths, children have been learning about column multiplication. Children have been using place value counters to understand how this is broken down and have then transferred this into columns.
In English, children have been learning about our new text ‘The Egyptian Cinderella’ Children have been acting out the story, exploring the characters and using a thesaurus to build a bank of interesting vocabulary. This will support with our writing over the next few weeks.
Children have also been exploring our new topic about the Ancient Egyptians. Children have been exploring artefacts and questioning what they are, what they are used for and how this tells us more information about what life was like for people during this period of time.
For this week’s spellings, we are learning about adding the vowel suffixes (-er, -ed or -ing) to words with more than one syllable where the last syllable is unstressed.
