This week in maths, children have started their new topic about fractions. Children have been exploring halves and quarters and some have been comparing, ordering and identifying unit fractions.
In English, children have been learning their new text ‘How to make a mummy.’ Children have been rehearsing the text, identifying features and then creating their own sentences using questions and exclamation marks.
To support with their writing, children have been conducting a science experiment. Children have mummified their own tomato, recording their pre-weight, taking out seeds, stuffing with natron and then leaving this in a jar. Children will use this learning to create their own set of instructions next week.
For this week’s spellings, we are learning about adding the prefix dis- to create words with a negative meaning.
Children will take part in a spelling quiz on these words on WB 6.02.23
