It has been a brilliant and busy week!
Science Week
This week, we have been celebrating Science Week. The theme this year is ‘Smashing Stereotypes’ and we have been learning about Katherine Johnson who began working for NASA in 1953. We also made our own rockets to launch into the sky.
Flautist Visit
On Thursday, we had a visit from the flautists from Nottingham University. We listened to them playing the flute and talking about their instruments. We also conducted them playing their song.
Red Nose Day
On Friday, we supported Comic Relief and came dressed in our craziest clothes. The school raised just under £300 for this worthy cause.
Sport
Every day we take part in the ‘daily mile’ and we have been increasing our running time. We have also continued our learning in football and we are focusing on control when dribbling the ball, passing skills and knowledge of the game rules.
Learning
In Maths, we have started our unit on ‘Fractions’. We have been looking at finding equal groups and one half.
Our Maths learning has continued in Computing and we have continued to focus on pictograms and solving problems using the digital pictograms. We have also continued this in Outdoor Learning as we have been tallying in the outdoor area.
In English, we have started our new three-week focus on non-chronological reports about animals. We have looked carefully at the features of a non-chronological report about elephants and we have been learning how to take notes for our own plans, turn planning into full sentences and editing and improving our work by carefully proof reading. In our whole class reading, we have continued reading the non-chronological report about elephants and answered questions about the text by looking carefully at what the question is asking and finding the answer in the text.
