The Wildflower Garden

Weekending 6th May 2022

This week, we have continued to explore things that grow and change.  We have read stories such as Avocado Baby, the Growing Story and the children have really become very confident at retelling the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Please encourage your child to have a go at telling you this story.  You can see the story on youtube and if you turn the volume down, this may encourage your child to tell you the story.

The children have been using lots of language to describe what they saw, as they looked at the tadpoles Mrs Gunn brought to school. They were so excited to see them swimming around and they talked about how the frogspawn was like jelly and how the egg came out.   They were able to compare it to the lifecycle of the butterfly and how the eggs hatched.

This term, the children are very keen to draw and talk about their drawings. When we were talking about the number 7, some of the children remembered that there were 7 colours in the rainbow and they went off to draw rainbows.   They are also fantastic at singing the 7 Days in a week song and many of the children have been saying the days of the week, as well as remembering what the caterpillar ate each day.

Outside, they continued to construct and build and have loved making bridges to walk across as well as dens using the crates, tyres and netting. They have listened to each others' ideas and it is wonderful to see them negotiate and work together.

We wish Eid Mubarak to all our families who celebrate this festival and we hope that you have enjoyed celebrating with your families.
