Boats    Sports Day Stars

What a busy week it has been.  Our question this week was,’How do we travel on water?’  There were lots of answers e.g. a boat like Row Row, Row your boat, A big pirate ship, a very fast boat (speed boat) etc.

We enjoyed listening to the story, ‘Who sank the boat?’  The children loved the ending and how the tiny mouse was the one to finally sank the boat.

We also sang ‘Ten Green Bottles Sitting on the wall.’  We focussed on capacity and using the correct words to say how much was in each bottle. We talked about, ‘full, empty, half full’. We followed  on in the water tray and also at the sand tray where the children filled socks with the sand and were encouraged to use the appropriate words.

SPORTS DAY

We were so proud of the children, as they took part in their Sports Day.  They showed such maturity, as they were so excited to see you all there but were happy to wave at you all and then show you what they could do, as they took part in each of the activities. Thank you for coming to support them – they really loved it! Although it was a very hot afternoon, they coped very well and really loved the ice lollies at the end.of the afternoon.

One of the children’s favourite activities this week, has been using the 'Tap It' hammers and shapes and creating their own pictures. It was great to hear them describe their pictures.
