Autumn 1
This term we have been reading the following books in English.
We have been consolidating our year 2 knowledge to ensure we have embedded it ready for year 3 key features in writing.
In guided reading, we have explored different fairytales and vocabulary to support their understanding of the text.
Please look below to see what we will be doing in our other subjects.
Reading: Fairytales
Writing: writing stories, character descriptions and setting descriptions.
Maths: Place Value. Addition and Subtraction.
Science: Food groups, Muscles, joints. skeleton.
Geography: Longitude/latitude, continents, Time zones.
Art: Gestural drawing
Computing: Computer connections and networks.
Spanish: Basic greetings, numbers to 10.
PSHE: Relationships
RE: Prayer
PE: Gymnastics, Cricket
KEY DATES
Books and Breakfast - Y3 - Wednesday 14th in the KS1 Hall.
PE and Outdoor Learning
In Autumn 1, PE days are on Tuesday (gymnastics) and Wednesday (Cricket).
PE kits consist of black shorts or jogging bottoms, HIVE T-SHIRTS, and trainers.
This year, children will need to bring in their named PE kit and this can be kept in school until half term when it will be sent home.
Children will also need to bring their Outdoor Learning kit in Autumn 2 but we will remind you about this via the website.
Homework in Year 3
Each week, we ask that all children read with somebody at home at least five times a week. This could be any adult or an older sibling or friend. This should be recorded on their rainbow reader for the chance to have their rainbow badges at the end of the half term.
We also ask that the children practise their weekly spellings which has been sent out at the beginning of this half term.
TT Rockstars!! We recommend daily practise of their times tables to ensure quick fluency.
Homework books will be sent out in Autumn 2. There will be a reference sheet in there to share what pages should be completed by which date.
