Welcome to Year 4!
Welcome back for a new academic year! Miss Powell and Miss Howie are excited to get stuck in to learning with the children. Please do not hesitate to get in touch via the office with any questions or queries for us.
Our topic for this half term is Ancient Greece and we will be reading Beasts of Olympus: Beast Keeper.
During this half term, we will be learning about:
- Maths – Place Value, Addition and Subtraction
- English - Character description
- Science – Sound including deaf awareness.
- Computing - Computing systems and networks
- History - Ancient Greece
- Art - clay sculpture and the art of display
- Spanish - Welcome to School
- PSHE - Relationships
- PE - Netball and Football
- RE – Identity and Belonging.
PE & Outdoor Learning
This term, Year 4 will have PE every TUESDAY and FRIDAY.
Outdoor Learning will take place next half term (November - Christmas). Please DO NOT bring Outdoor Learning kit into school this half term.
PE kits can be left at school.

Times Tables:
A vital aspect of Maths is that the children have a secure recall of times tables up to 12x12, so we ask that they spend some time each week on TT Rockstars practising these. There will be weekly class competitions for Year 4, as well as some beat the teacher competitions. Log in details can be found in your child's Communication Diary. Heatmaps will also be given to children to stick in termly so that you can see your child's progress.
PLEASE NOTE: The Year 4 Multiplication Check takes place this year. More information will be communicated nearer the time.
